Supporting Knowledgeable and Empowered Communities Holistically
The SKECH project started in the Hunter New England region of NSW in Australia. The project aims to create strong links between hospital based pain services, GPs in primary care and community members. We use an e-bulletin to report back to the community the progress we make. We have worked in the Hunter New England region for the last 12 months up until October 2011, learning about the experiences of people who live with pain, and their loved ones, and sharing what we know about the research currently. Coralie has just finished a contract with the Hunter New England Health Service - part of NSW Health. We are continuing to work with this community, and have a few ideas about how to continue to support this community. Coralie is currently writing up the results and recommendations of the project, and will be continuing to correspond with everyone she met during her time in the region.
We started with Listening Posts i throughout the region in August and then provided some information about chronic pain in September.
We have a metaphor for the project which tells the story:
We produced e-bulletins which we published during the year:
Please stay tuned, we will publish our results here in this space before the end of 2011.
