My husband and I just received our new medicare cards and the eHealth brochure was included.
I'm curious if anyone here has joined or what your thoughts about it are.

I haven't read a lot about it Di, but I am not too concerned about it. I think that when Medicare came in there was a great rush of apprehension about privacy etc.

Personally, I think that I would feel better if my drug allergies (penicillin, sulfonomides and more) plus my compile history were available no matter where I may be in the country. It saves having to give your entire health history over and over too.

Thanks Mary,

In that case it would probably be a good thing for you to join up and register.

I can see many positives about the availability of my medical records being so easily accessible to health professionals.

I guess my main concern is if I come across a that one so called professional that has no idea or training in my condition or CP like we all have at some time or another. They can record their negative report in my records for all and sundry to view as well.
It's taking the good with the bad I guess.

From what I've read, the patient has control over who gets to view their details... please correct me if I'm not reading that right.

I would have to agree, for those of us with multiple health issues, intolerance to medication and now I have a stim, I would want every treating doctor to know my medical history before attempting any treatment, all it would take for instance if I was involved in an accident interstate and they requested an MRI to find the extent of any injuries, this would have serious repercussions as one treatment that can not be performed is an MRI with the stim, it would tear a whole in my buttocks the size of an apple and then there are the leads in the spinal column

I've just taken the time to read the online information which is far more comprehensive than the pamphlet obviously.

I'm rather impressed actually. There's even an area to record your own personal blog on your eHealth record for your personal information like a diary for pain or how you are coping with current treatments. This information is in your own private section that's not viewable by anyone else.
You can even write notes to your specialists or doctors.

The big plus is it's up to you what stays included on the site and what doesn't. You can delete a report if you wish plus you can re add it later if you decide to do that too.

I'm thinking the eHealth records may be a good tool and actually a positive step in helping us get the right information in the one place and managed by ourselves.

I like the thought of getting some input in to my own medical records.
The link I put up for the site then go to the FAQ section is well worth a read... :)

Thank you for the links Di. I have a feeling that I have already registered. I will check. I think that it sounds really good, but I wonder how long it will take to roll it all out.
