It was not Fibro, but it is RA. Blood tests have confirmed it. In a way I am relieved that I can now start the journey to making my life better and learning to cope. It also answers so many questions about my Migraines and chronic pain. I will be seeing a Doctor at a private hospital in Greenslopes. Curious if any of you know of it and have any advice? I love coming here and having a place to talk to you all about this. I am a bit scared of this disease, but I am good at coping and hitting things head on. Any advice, tips or anything I greatly appreciate.

Hugs to you all

Hi Theresa,

Such bad luck that you have RA but I can understand that you feel relieved to finally have a correct diagnosis instead of being messed around with all the wrong meds. while knowing in your own mind that something is wrong. I know several people who have RA and they are all doing well. You would normally be under the care of a Rheumatologist, so I guess that will be the Dr. that you have been referred to. There are a lot of new meds. out there for RA and they can prevent the swelling and malformation of joints etc.

We will be looking forward to what happens next in your journey!

Best of luck with the specialist.

Mary

Hi Theresa, gee finally you know what's going on, you must be relieved to at least have a diagnosis. What meds did they put you on for the pain? And of course you would be scared... I don't know anybody who has it...however I have it in my back now and I already told you what I'm on though I just hate having to take these strong pain meds because they stop working because of my tolerance to them...your right its better to learn to manage and cope without the opiate pain killers if that's what you mean?

Heya Eliza!
I am on the fentynal patch, endone and valium for now, that is until I see the pain management doc on Feb. 1st. We are leaving for Thailand on Saturday for two weeks and I was so scared I wouldn't be able to do a darn thing, so she gave me some medications until I see him. It's at the Greenslopes Private Hospital, so I am hoping maybe someone on here has been there and can give a heads up?
It is a relief, but I am scared, for the past week, I have been in too much pain, I have lost 5 lbs, nothing looks good and it just everywhere to move with random fevers. Now it all makes sense at least.

Cheers

Good and bad in that diagnoses, good you don't have fibro as they have no clue how to treat that disease, not so good that you have RA, at least having RA they can treat the symptoms better, and have proven medication that helps. One of my wife's closet friends in Vic has lived with RA all her life, she has her bad days but has put herself through uni as an aged student and works with parents and kids with special needs, it has not held her back in achieving her set goals, medication and going through a pain clinic and the arthritis association has helped her immensely. So don't let this diagnoses get you down in the dumps, now you can start planning for the future.
