I think people have got the wrong end of stick it what Peter was trying to convey, what he was pointing out was that spending all your time on the computer, can lead to social isolation, for those with bad backs, neck or headaches sitting all the day staring at a computer screen only increases ones pain levels, apart from causing eye strain.
It's good and very helpful for people to come here, talk about their story, vent some anger and receive a lot of support, a lot of people become very close and their is nothing wrong with that at all, in fact we would all encourage it, it's a very lonely and scary world out their for CPer's we have all experienced this every day, we can't just walk up to a group of people and start a discussion because eventually it will come back to our disease.
But we can't be tied to our computers either there has to be a balance, and that is all Peter was pointing out. Once you get caught on social site it can become an obsession and I think you would all agree that is not helpful or the right solution for anyone who has chronic pain, we have to push ourselves to make the effort to get out and socialise for our own health mentally and physically.

I recently removed myself from all my chronic pain groups except this one and one other. I've found it's helped me to not focus in the pain all day everyday. There were always little notifications coming up or emails coming through and even if I wasn't thinking about pain at the time, the notifications would soon remind me. I've been trying so so hard to keep my mind focused on other things and have only been signing in to CP groups once (no more than twice ) a day. This is why you haven't seen as much of me. It's definitely helped me to realise that there are other things in my life aside from pain. This is just my experience and I know everyone is different.

Just another little note on this subject, as pointed out sitting staring at a computer screen can be detrimental to your health, I am living proof of this, I use to be a computer technician and was for over 15 years, most of my day was consumed with my head in a computer, and contrary to common belief most problems are user caused or a virus and not hardware failures, and finding these faults can be very stressful, this and extending my work into home life, led to a poor diet, sitting all the time and having reduced activity, which resulted in me having a heart attack.
I am not saying this will happen to you, it was my fault for letting it happen and not separating work from home, I became obsessed, having the heart attack was a wake up call. I actually quit my job, after recouping from the heart attack I started a new career and went back to manual labour working in a factory making steel framed houses.

I just got home from colonoscopy and had the best sleep i had for ages. Feel great. reinforces what we all know that sleep is so important to Cpers. Without it you are battling up hill.

I think its time to finish this thread re offending Mrs. S but i want to say this. Peter is only human and experiences the misery of chronic pain just like every else. He struggles like every else does yet takes on board the duty of being a moderator. I am sure there are times he can barely find the emotional strength to even go near the keyboard. Please cut the poor bugger some slack whether you interpret his reply as to your liking or not.

Hi Eliza. Hope you are getting to that rockpool of yours. I am now going to eat and drink to make up for fasting. Also when i come out of dreamland i have to chase down a reputable pain clinic in Melbourne according to anasthetic guy . regards Lindsay.
