I am unable to point you in the right direction as I don't know where you are, if you could help us out and tell us which state you are in and whereabouts in the state we could start trying to guide you in the right direction .
You could look up multidisciplanery pain clinics and make a call as they may be able to help especially as he has to suffer persistent pain at such a young age.
You could also ask your doctor if he could refer you to a nuerosurgeon and or a pain clinician they could also help you find if there is anything they can do.
Don't panic chronic pain is a pain but it also helps us forge a friendly bond with a growing family so please bear with us as we work out some more ideas
as long as I wake up alive I'm happy
Because it could be worse
I dont know where in Australia you live... but you could contact your closest specialist paediatric hospitals and enquire if they have an adolescent pain program/social group events.
I am in NSW but there is something called CHIPS that is in another state (not sure which one)
Hope this helps.
Best wishes to you and your son on your journey through chronic pain.
PS I was 13 when I was diagnosed with my illnesses.
