Chronic Pain Australia is aware of the existence of evidence that this drug in its benign form, is efficacious. We do not have any issues with that.
However, this forum was initially set up as an advocacy forum for those who suffer the isolation brought about by chronic pain. It is not an 'ACTIVIST' forum. We simply cannot cope with any political activism on this forum, nor in the organisation, because it is run by volunteers, most of whom suffer chronic pain.
The desire to keep this forum open to the public and to keep it a peaceful place for people who suffer pain, to come to, is still the same today from the Board Members as it was when we set it up a little over 3 years ago.
This format has worked very well, because the comments from Users, are all very positive.
During the time of all the trouble with this subject, the forum went very quiet for almost 2 months. All our members were too afraid to come back, because the attacks from these people were quite confronting. We don't want that to happen again!
So it has been decided to continue with the current ban on any discussion of this topic.
The Board has made this decision at our meeting yesterday, Thursday the 21st of August 2014.
There is however a national organisation that exists for political activism in the medical area, which we believe you would be best served to contact and ask to put forward your concerns and opinions on the use of this drug.
This organisation is called Painaustralia. Here is a link to their website/contact page:
We encourage you to send your comments and submissions on to them, because they operate within the political arena. We do not!
Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
I wish the ring (this Chronic Pain) had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened. (Frodo Baggins)
So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide, is what to do with the time that is given to us. (Gandalf the Grey)
