Hi All
I am new here and suffer from chronic back pain caused by a motor vehicle accident in November 2012.

On Tuesday this week, my pain specialist recommended that I try Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). My chemist has never heard of it, and Google searches reveal that it seems only to be available in the Netherlands.
Has anyone else tried it? Does anyone know if it is available anywhere in Austraila for personal use? (there's a company in Victoria - Tocris - but they only supply for research purposes to Universities)

Thanks :)

Hi Krikit
The wonders of this forum... stuff that is out there but never heard of.
Was it suggested to you as part of a trial? You might need to go back to Doc Specialist for more info and then please update us.

And I get afraid of losing my way
Oh oh the night comes down
And it’s dark again

Hi, I am new to this forum, but my pain specialist has just given me the recommendation to try PEA , but has also supplied me with a source in Newcastle. I don't have any yet, but am about to ring them and organize a supply . I will keep you posted
I had a car accident 21 years ago and I am on Oxycodone and trying to wean off it. I hate the stuff.

I intend to start my trial next week

Update Well, it seems that PEA, didn't seem to work for me. Unfortunately, I have had to try Palexia , then with a dosage increase - 100mg x twice a day as well as my other regular meds - Targin and Panadol Osteo that I was previously on. However, I was able to drop the Oxycontin SR when my Palexia dose increased.. still have the side effects like most people, but at least its bearable, even if there is a constant but manageable pain all the time.

I do have a breakthrough, being Endone / Oxycodone , but really try and limit that.

I think the PEA was a good avenue to try, but it didn't seem to take the pain away, maybe to dull it a little, but not being on the PBS also doesn't help, which was a little painful in the wallet . Not that it was super expensive, but an extra $40 a month mounts up with no health fund and on a pension.(DSP)
