I just found this website yesterday and decided to join. I have suffered back pain herniated discs since Dec 2012 following a work injury. My employees at the time refused to believe me even though i had MRI's to prove the injury. They then proceeded to bully me into leaving. Which worked because i left. But now five years later i am still suffering. Workcover is continually harassing me and trying to make out that i am a liar. I work fulltime which is very difficult. I swim twice a week and do pilates twice a week and walk everyday (pain permitting).
What i dislike the most apart from the pain is the general attitude of friends, family and the general public. Everyone thinks that i am a malinger and roll their eyes when i say i can't attend various functions due to the pain. I cannot stand for long or sit down for long so it makes it difficult to socialise. i have become more and more isolated as people just can't be bothered with what they call the drama. They all say i should just get on with it. I wish i could.
Hi Lara, sorry you've had to join the pain club. Vent away as we all understand and in similar situations. You really learn whom your true friends are unfortunately when acute pain becomes chronic, they just don't get it, some don't want to. Hoping your having a better week.
yes, your situation is very common for many pain sufferers, people just don't understand the impacts and it really does affect every aspect of your life. Do you have a good Gp, maybe talk to him/her to see if medication can help, or maybe referral to pain clinic ?
