Hi I'm new to this, I've had server migraines that have happened out of the blue for the last 2 years. I need constant otc pain relief such as mersyndol or panadeine Extra. So today I vistited the hospital and had the usual tests done, they told me to just change to mersyndol instead of the panadeine Extra but did not give me a script. I still had panadeine Extra left an told the pharmacist this. At the chenmist you can only get codeine tablets every 5 days an this was day 4 in getting the mersyndol. The chemist was very understanding and let me buy it. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has had server headaches come on over suddenly out of the blue and what things have they told there chemists with out a script.

Hi Jessica_E_H. Welcome :)

Im not sure why they didnt give you a script for the Mersyndol, perhaps they forgot or some other reason.

Perhaps ringing the hospital to find out why is a better option rather than guessing and trying a pharmacist who probably doesnt have your medical history

Mersyndol has many contra indications for its use.

On this site NPS List its uses , cautions, and side effects

Hope this helps :)

Warm regards Arjay/Ron

Hi again Jessica

I went to pharmacy today and got Mersyndol "Night time" medicine which has a smaller dose of paracetamol and codeine but an extra component which is supposed to assist in better sleep. it did not require a script and is available over the counter. Still though its better to check for any side effects first.

I will let you know how it goes
