HI I'm hoping for a recommendation for a chronic pain specialist who is experienced with fibromyalgia.
I have recently been treating a patient who was diagnosed with FMS over 20 years ago. She is on Comcare insurance and receives regular physiotherapy, myotherapy (me), acupuncture treatments, and meets with a GP once every 4 months. Over the years she has sen a number of specialists but she has experienced a sub standard level of care and effort, and thus she has become somewhat disillusioned and pessimistic regarding the prognosis of her condition.
I have suggested that her presentation be reassessed by someone who is up with the current research into chronic pain and FMS. Do you have anyone you can recommend in either Melbourne CBD or inner South Eastern suburbs?

Dear Mr. Nash,
You never gave me a chance to answer your email to our office account, instead you posted the same here. So, I'll answer it here.
Chronic Pain Australia currently doesn't have a clinical services directory, so we can't really help you with your enquiry. Our only suggestion to you would be for you to have your client referred on to a Multi-disciplinary Pain Clinic at one of the major hospitals, because that is where they will be exposed to best practice medicine with regard self-management of Chronic Pain. They can also be re-assessed while there.
I am a life time sufferer of Fibromyalgia (over 50 years) and can tell you that the most benefit I have ever gained has been from one of these pain clinics.
Hopefully there may be one of our members who live in Vic who have had success with Fibro friendly specialists, will be able to post here and let you know the details of that specialist.
On another note: Please in future refrain from coming straight to the forum soliciting information as a professional. We have rules that must be abided by and although you may not be directly in breach of our rules, you are sailing very close to breaking the rules:
I am leaving this post up, for information purposes. Mostly so that other members who may be able to help you out, may do so here.
If you need anything from this organisation, please email us as you have done, but wait for us to answer your email. Then if you wish to post on our forum as a professional, we would appreciate the courtesy of you contacting us first.
Thanks very much for your understanding and co-operation.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide, is what to do with the time that is given to us. (Gandalf the Grey)

Hi Peter, sorry, it appeared as though the email did not go through as I didn't receive a confirmation message, and by that stage thought, as you did that other members of the board might benefit from the same info, and/or help out with responses to my query, so here it is.
Regarding your point of solicitation, I did read through the guidelines and you'll note that I omitted my contact info as to avoid breaching them, I only mention that I am a Myo as it is relevant to my post. In any case, I apologise if my post does come across as passively marketing myself, that's certainly not my intention.
Thanks for your advice regarding Multi-disciplinary clinics, I'll try to suss a few of them out in the meantime, however, I'd prefer to go to someone specific on a recommendation if I can help it given my client's track record with being let down.
