Hi

A shout out to anybody who knows / experienced Palexia SR (Tapentadol).

I have Googled, but wonder if there has been any experiene of this relatively new medication.
Good, bad, or indifferent. I would be interested in your story.

Thanks

Hi Marley,

Yes, I tried this medication last Xmas...I kept on taking it for 5 days thinking that I was just withdrawing from the oxy's but I didn't do well on it at all and I had symptoms that I didn't like so I was so stressed out! Everybody is different so it could work for some people.

I felt really unwell on it and I felt really paranoid and I was seeing things that weren't there. I was getting worse and worse each day and then I called my GP who told me to stop taking it as it was causing a bad reaction in me...yuk, yuk, yuk...never again!

It's not for me!

Hi Eliza

Thank you for your experience.

Today has been day one so it is early days yet. I have Dr Pain Physician who does not like to give too muh information and refers back to GP for that stuff.

As I have said, I have Googled, but it is the personal experience I am looking for. It is intended to replace Oxy and Fentanyl. I will give it the week but will admit I am scared because medication changes are rearely smooth, but I need something to change because of tolerance. It is a medication with some big claims, including producing europhia to reduce depression. Will wait and see.

I am sorry it didn't work for you, and I am grateful for your post.

Hi Eliza

Tonight was the last of the 10 tabs b.d. and it has not been pleasant. The 'sales pitch' included no need for anti-depressants and 2 opiates, but after 5 days, I will be talking to Dr as I would not be happy with Dr Pain Physician's plan of action, expecially if it includes Tapentadol. I had high hopes of this tablet, now vanished.

I would really appreciate knowing if others have tried this and how it affected them.

Marly,

I'm on day 4 of the change over to Palexia SR, today's my first day using it without other narcotic slow release pain killers.

Only on 50mg twice a day and so far I'm not enjoying the experience.

I had to get off Lyrica because it was causing severe fatigue and my private pain management specialist thought Palexia SR could replace it and the Tramadol SR I was on.

Feeling somewhat sedated on it and the first night a had a really weird dream (I don't normally dream)

My GP is worried about me and is following me up weekly (GP prescribing under direction) Will need to persist for a few more days, but I don't think this is going to go well.

Never a fan of fiddling with pain meds, especially the slow release ones as when they don't work as well I have to take a lot more quick acting meds.

I think for me too the sales pitch hasn't been realised. Goal was to reduce the number of meds I'm on and the side effects.
