Hi Piko

Thank you for adding to this thread. Your post is appreciated.

I stuck with Palexia SR(Tapentadol) for 10 days and side affects only got worse. I was given another 10 days, but didn't last it out and stopped it as it didn't "settle down."

I am also not a fan of fiddling with pain meds, but it has become necessary because of tollerance and ever increasing breakthrough medication.
The goal was to reduce the number of meds and the side effects, the same as yours.

Palexia SR definately did not live up to the sales pitch and Dr Pain Physician was not happy when I stopped it because it was a form of 'torture,' He claimed I didn't give it a "fair go," but there was no way I was going to take it another day. I lasted 15 days. I knew Doc would not admit it was the Palexia, but I didn't care. It was not what the Pharmacy charged me for Palaxia, but it cost me in more ways than financial.

Please post what happens with you. I hope your experience is better than Eliza's or mine..

Hi Eliza

More of a update is in the Post below to Piko, but your wrote:
I felt really unwell on it and I felt really paranoid and I was seeing things that weren't there. I was getting worse and worse each day and then I called my GP who told me to stop taking it as it was causing a bad reaction in me...yuk, yuk, yuk...never again!
It's not for me!

I think, "Yuck yuck, yuck" is an understatement and Palexia is not for me either!

Thank you

Guy's

I have to disagree, I went from Targin 80/40 which is a slow release Oxy to Palexia 150 both twice a day, and for the first time in years I can pee without waiting 20 minutes, had some lucid dreams the first couple of nights but now it has settled and I am feeling not too bad, although I am still massaging the levels I think I like it very much.

But as is always said everyone is different, I don't tolerate Morphine or MS Contin very well, and I hallucinate on Tramadol.

Oh and the suggested dose for Palexia was 300Mg twice a day which is more that their stated maximum so my Doctor started me in the middle as he thought I had some tolerance to Oxy as I have been on it for over 5 years.

Regards

Hi illeatyu

I'm glad you posted your positive experience. It adds to the experiences posted on Palexia, and it confirms that what works for some, won't work for another. We read this all over these boards.

Hi everyone,

I have been put on Palexia to reduce the amount of codeine I was having and I found it dropped my pain levels more than anything I have had so far. It isn't designed to take the pain away, just reduce it.

I usually take 50 in the morning and 100 at night, but I also have 300 of Gabapentin 3 times a day. I have a fairly substantial tolerance to medications, so to get any improvement was a huge bonus for me.

I guess because everyone has different chemical make ups, everyone will have an individual reaction. Don't give up, keep trying :-)

Hi kymstevenson
It is good you have found Palexia helps with your pain. I wAS prescribed it for that reason but found it haad an opposite affect.
It is about individuality.
